Water is life
Water scarcity is a primary concern of all governments in the Middle East. In Palestine this problem is particularly sensitive due to Palestinians' lack of control over their water resources as a result of the Israeli occupation.
The Palestinian Water Service Providers (WSP) are the first to be affected by this problem. Having limited access to water, their overall objective is to secure maximum use of the available quantities. In addition, not only the political crisis is a major obstacle for the Palestinian water sector but also the large number of players involved. Various stakeholders, organizations and water utilities operate with little coordination and cooperation.
Palestinian water service providers operate at district level, mostly within municipal structures and, in need of a network, with little communication and knowledge exchange. This has made it necessary to create a union - a union of water professionals and water service providers at all levels, in order to promote and support the cooperation, information and knowledge exchange within the Palestinian water sector for the benefit of all. |
